In a category dominated by achievement and outdoor-oriented brands, Evolv’s southern Californian heritage offered an alternative path, guided by individual creativity and self-expression. This inspired a creative approach rooted in collage, expressive mark-making, and product photography that celebrated Evolv’s shoes as creative instruments.



The New Wave Climber

Through in-depth interviews with young millennial and Gen-Z gym climbers, we developed important insights into this new generation of climbers that Evolv’s heritage-focused competitors have failed to reach.

Creative Self-Expression

In a category dominated by achievement- and outdoor-oriented brands, Evolv’s Southern Californian heritage offered an alternative path, guided by individual creativity and self-expression. This inspired a creative approach rooted in collage, expressive mark-making, and product photography that celebrated Evolv’s shoes as creative instruments.

We harnessed the new design system to launch Evolv’s 2021 collection of new climbing shoes, with key art that paired dramatic product details with location photography and stock images. The resulting family of creative campaigns injected creative energy to Evolv’s product launches, while working within the brand’s limited budget.
